NILES — Last week marked the sixth and final week of the Summer My Way program for Niles Community Schools youth.

Campers wrapped up the week by learning about bike safety with experts from Cycle-Re-Cycle. They then got the chance to test out their skill on a bike ride. Youth also got to see some hands-on physics demonstrations from Air Zoo. Finally, campers performed a talent show.

Since camp started at Northside Child Development Center earlier this summer, students have had the opportunity to participate in hands-on educational activities, meet with local politicians and school officials and take part in exercise activities. This year, about 250 youth were involved.

Summer My Way is hosted by the YMCA of Southwest Michigan. The camp is offered at no cost to families and is sponsored through a variety of community and business partners. This was the fifth year that the camp has been available to local families. A separate camp is offered for Brandywine Community Schools students. This week is Brandywine’s last week of camp
