Minor injuries reported following airport crash

DOWAGIAC — Minor injuries were reported following a plane crash at the Dowagiac Municipal Airport Saturday evening, according to the Dowagiac Police Department.
Police reported that officers investigated a plane crash around 7 p.m. Saturday at the Dowagiac Municipal Airport. The South Bend based plane was beginning to take off at the time of the crash.
There were two occupants in the plane at the time of the crash, both receiving minor injuires in the crash, according to police. The 54-year-old pilot was treated on scene by the Pride Care Ambulance. The passenger was transported to Borgess Lee Memorial Hospital in Dowagiac for non-life-threatening injuries. He was later released.
The accident is currently under investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration.
Dowagiac Police were assisted by Dowagiac Fire Department, Cass County Sheriff’s Office, Pokagon Tribal Police, and True’s Towing and Recovery.
