CASS COUNTY — Cass County Treasurer Linda Pruett died Sunday evening.
Pruett had held the office of treasurer in the county since 2002. No details have been released by the county surrounding her death, nor has the county named an interim treasurer.
Michigan politicians have already began expressing their condolences for Pruett’s death.
“This is a sad day for Cass County and southwest Michigan as we mourn the loss of Linda Pruett,” said Sen. John Proos, R-St. Joseph. “Linda was a tireless public servant for many years and a frequent volunteer for many community organizations. She was a straight shooter, and she will be missed. My prayers are with Linda’s family.”
Congressman Fred Upton also released a statement on Pruett’s death.
“This is a truly tragic loss. Linda was a no-nonsense public servant who always had her constituents’ concerns number one,” he said. “She ran a tight ship and was respected in so many ways by all who encountered her. We will greatly miss her sense of humor and dedication to our community. Amey and I are including her family in our prayers.”
