Fifth Third Bank donates $7,000 to SMC for Steve’s Run

Southwestern Michigan College President Dr. David Mathews Friday accepted a $7,000 donation from Fifth Third Bank Financial Center Manager Jeremy Truitt.
Fifth Third is the premier sponsor of the 44th Steve’s Run July 28 on SMC’s Dowagiac campus. The 10K run, 5K walk/run and fun run benefits the Steven Briegel Scholarship Fund and Mayo Clinic’s Cancer Research Fund.
Steve’s Run starts at 8:30 a.m. in front of the David C. Briegel Building. Breast-cancer survivor Danny Sledge of Kalamazoo will speak at the awards ceremony at 10 a.m. in Alumni Plaza. Founder Ron Gunn is master of ceremonies. Retired President David Briegel and WSBT-TV’s Caroline Torie will present awards.
