Sharon D. (Kinch) Calkins, 82, of South Bend, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones on Tuesday, July 17, 2018.
Sharon was born Sept. 17, 1935, in South Bend to the late Paul A. and Alberta M. (MacDonald) Kinch. Sharon was married to the late Donald E. Calkins. Sharon was preceded in death by her children Denise Stegall and Dennis Calkins.
Sharon is survived by her children David (Nancy) Calkins, Don (Kim) Calkins and Debi Thomas and grandchildren, Nicole Boom, Clinton Calkins, Dawn Calkins, Diana Calkins, John Calkins, Jennifer Copabianco, Kori Griffin, Holly Harris, Charly Hoff, Dan Hoff, and Josef Parent. She was also blessed with many great-grandchildren, friends and colleagues.
As the owner of Patchwork Cottage Antiques in Sister Lakes and Killdeer Farm Antiques in Niles, Sharon was a renowned antique dealer and successful independent businesswoman. She was also featured in newspapers and magazines throughout her career as an accomplished master gardener. A fiercely independent woman with a towering intellect, keen sense of humor and tell-it-like-it-is personality, Sharon was beloved by her family, friends and the many animals she cared for throughout the years.
Halbritter Wickens Funeral Home, 615 E. Main St. in Niles, is assisting the family with arrangements. Per her request, no service will be held.
