SISTER LAKES — Cloudy and humid conditions did not deter runners from throughout the Midwest and even as far away as Florida from competing in the Sister Lakes Triathlon Saturday.

Troy Smits of St. Joseph and Brittany Fozkos of Valparaiso, Indiana were the Long Course champions.

Fozkos finished with an overall time of 2:20:41, while Smits posted a combined time of 2:02:09.

Competitors in the Long Course had to swim 1,000 meters, bike 25 miles and run 6.35 miles.

The Olympic Sprint course consisted of a 500-meter swim, 13 mile bike ride and a 5K run.

Zachary Benes of Chicago won the men’s title in the Olympic Sprint with a time of 1:08:57, while Chris Wickhard of Crown Point, Indiana won the women’s title with a time of 1:11:32.
