Child injured in two-car crash Sunday
SILVER CREEK TOWNSHIP — A Dowagiac child was injured in a two-car personal injury crash Sunday in Silver Creek Township, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash occurred at 9:41 a.m. Sunday on Indian Lake Road near Middle Crossing Road in Silver Creek Township, deputies said.
Emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene after a northbound pickup truck was attempting to turn into a driveway and was rear-ended by another pickup truck. The pickup that was rear-ended was operated by John Hargreaves, 53, of Dowagiac. Hargreaves had his two children in the vehicle, Gabriel and Jerrica Hargreaves. Jerrica suffered minor injuries in the crash and was transported to Lakeland Hospital by Pride Care Ambulance.
The pickup that rear-ended the Hargreaves was driven by James Mosier, 26, of Dowagiac. Mosier was uninjured in the crash.
Alcohol was not a factor in the crash and seatbelts were worn, according to deputies.
Deputies were assisted on scene by Indian Lake Fire Department, Pride Care Ambulance and Pokagon Tribal Police Department.
One injured in accident in Jefferson Township
JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP — A Dowagiac woman was injured in a personal injury crash in Jefferson Township Saturday, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to a two-car personal injury crash at 2:18 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of Dailey Road and Hospital Street in Jefferson Township.
Initial investigation shows that Faith Kiggins, 32, of Dowagiac, was northbound on Dailey Road when she collided head on with 22-year-old Edwardsburg resident Brandon Lovell, who was southbound on Dailey Road.
Kiggins was transported by LifeCare ambulance to Borgess Lee in Dowagiac with minor injuries. Seatbelts were worn by both occupants. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash, according to deputies.
Assisting agencies were Dowagiac Police Department, Cassopolis Police Department, Cass Fire Department and LifeCare Ambulance.
Police investigating two-car hit-and-run crash
JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP — Police are investigating a two-car hit-and-run crash, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash occurred around 12:56 a.m. Saturday on Daily Road near Hospital Street in Jefferson Township. Emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene after a northbound vehicle crossed the center line and struck a southbound vehicle operated by William Neff, 51, of Osceola, Indiana. Neff and his passenger, Ruth Neff, 51, also of Osceola, were treated on scene by ambulance personnel.
The driver of the northbound vehicle, which was a blue 2012 Jeep Wrangler, fled the crash. The Dowagiac K-9 team, Ofc Roman and K-9 Tole, were called in to track the driver. After an exhaustive search through corn fields and surrounding woods, the track was called off without locating the driver, according to deputies.
Deputies were assisted on scene by Cass Central Fire Department, Life Care Ambulance, Cassopolis Police Department and Dowagiac Police Department K-9 Unit.

Two injured in crash on US-12
MASON TOWNSHIP — Two were injured in a crash on US-12 in Mason Township Saturday, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to the crash at 12:19 p.m. Saturday on US-12 near Cassopolis Road in Mason Township. Initial investigation shows that Robert Postma, 65, of Elkhart, was at the intersection stopped when a vehicle driven by 19-year-old Fayetteville, West Virginia resident Jacob Borsman rear ended him.
Borsman did not suffer any injuries, though the collision did do damage to both vehicles.
Postma had three other passengers in the vehicle with him. One passenger, 67-year-old Elkhart resident Teresa Sapen, had complaints of back and neck pain. Another passenger, 90-year-old Elkhart resident Robert Postma was also complaining of back pains. Both Sapen and Robert Postma, were taken by ambulance to Elkhart General for treatment.
Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash and seat belts were used, according to deputies.
