BERRIEN SPRINGS — Local fourth and fifth graders spent June 21 and 22 learning about local law enforcement at the 10th annual Berrien County Sheriff’s Kids Camp.

The camp took place at the Berrien County Fairgrounds, 9122 U.S. 31 Hwy Berrien Springs. Proceeds benefited the Berrien County Law Enforcement Explorer Post 602.

The camp provided children with safety tips and presentations with hands-on demonstrations by the Berrien County Sheriff’s Department and other local law enforcement agencies, fire and EMT professionals.

Junior deputies and participants got hands on experience in law enforcement, fire services, emergency medical service and water rescue. They participated in team building and problem-solving activities and learn personal and home safety tips. Participants also got an opportunity to interact with police officers, firefighters and EMTs.
