JONES — The 58th annual Antique Tractor and Engine Show will return from Aug. 3 tot 5 at Boot Hill Ranch, 1.5 miles east of Jones on Blair Lake Street.

The St. Joe Valley Old Engine Association was formed in 1960, and was originally named “Early Days Gas Engine & Tractor.” In 1972 the name was changed to St. Joe Valley Old Engine Association. The group’s mission is to remember and honor the history and encourage preservation of antique farm equipment, including lawn and garden tractors and implements.

At the August Show, more than 130 tractors and stationary engines are on display. The owners of the machinery are in attendance to demonstrate and answer questions about their items. Organizers say the event offers an opportunity to learn about the history of older farm equipment and farming methods, as well as appreciate the hard work that goes into agricultural production. There are also tractor parades, youth activities, equipment demonstrations and live music on Friday and Saturday afternoons.

The 13th Annual Tractor Tour returns Thursday, Aug. 2. The tour offers participants a scenic tractor ride through the Cass and St. Joseph County countryside. Contact Terry Bowlby at (269) 445-7210 for more information. Bowlby also organizes the annual tractor drive across the Mackinac Bridge each September.

At the event, there will be vendors selling and trading farm equipment and parts along with a flea market with assorted items, including collectibles and crafts. Vendors should call Mary Shirk at (269) 278-4965 to reserve a vendor spot. There is a $15 vendor setup fee, which includes primitive camping on the grounds.

In addition, commercial camping is located next to the showgrounds. Food is available on the grounds.

The gate opens at 9 a.m. daily. Entry is $5 for adults. Children and club members will be admitted for free.
