DOWAGIAC — Rain during the afternoon did not dampen the success of the 15th Annual Chieftain Golf Outing on June 21 at Indian Lake Hills Golf Course, organizers said.

This year’s event attracted more than 200 golfers.

Organizers also said the golf outing’s success each year is dependent on the support of many people, businesses and organizations. Prior to this year’s event more than $400,000 had been generated. All proceeds are divided equally between the Dowagiac Schools Foundation and Athletic Boosters who are then able to provide funding for academic and athletic programs that go beyond the regular school budgets.

When the final tally on this year’s event is completed organizers said they are confident that more than $25,000 will again be provided to the School Foundation and Athletic Boosters.
