ST. JOSEPH — A class for babysitters to learn a new skill is coming to southwest Michigan, thanks to a local health care provider.

Community members are invited to attend a CPR, or cardiopulmonary resuscitation, class for babysitters from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 28, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., in the Frederick S. Upton Education Center at Lakeland Medical Center, St. Joseph, located at 1234 Napier Avenue.

This is an American Heart Association course which is designed to teach the essentials of CPR.

Participants will be taught how to save children and infants from choking, cardiac arrest, respiratory arrest and the proper use of an AED. This three-hour class will allow time to practice the skills needed for proper CPR. Upon completion, a certification card will be issued.

Cost is $25 and includes booklet and certification card. Preregistration is required and participation is limited. Participants must complete the Babysitting with Confidence program prior to taking this course. For more information, or to register, call (269) 556-2872
