DOWAGIAC — District champion Lakeshore dominated the Division 2 All-District team with six players earning the honor.
All-district is the first step in the Michigan High School Softball Coaches Association all-state process.
Anyone earning all-district honors is nominated for the all-regional team.
Niles had three players and Dowagiac one player earn all-district status.
For the Vikings, Aynslee Myer, Hannah Albright and Brooke Timm were selected, while for the Chieftains, Amiyah Smith was picked.
Albright hit .457 with eight doubles, eight home runs and 42 RBIs.
Timm hit .473 with 17 doubles, two home runs and 39 RBIs and Myer hit .386 with five doubles and 30 RBIs.
Smith, a junior, hit .446 with 15 doubles, two triples, four home runs and 23 RBIs for Dowagiac.
“Amiyah has had a good three years here on varsity and has more to go to get even better,” said Dowagiac Coach Mike Behnke. “She was our best player and leads by how she conducts herself and by her play on the field.”
