Cassopolis woman hospitalized after SUV rollover crash

MASON TOWNSHIP — A 49-year-old woman was injured Monday afternoon when she lost control of her SUV on Mason Street east of Gordon Road in Mason Township, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Department.

Police responded to the crash at about 1:30 p.m.

According to police, Stacey Garritano, of Cassopolis was traveling eastbound on Mason Street when she lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree.

The vehicle then overturned and came to rest on its side in the roadway. Garritano was extricated from the vehicle by SEPSA Fire Department and transported to St. Joseph Memorial Hospital via MedFlight. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash, according to police. Seatbelt use is unknown at this time.

Assisting on scene were SEPSA Ambulance, SEPSA Fire Department, and the Michigan State Police. The crash remains under investigation.
