DOWAGIAC — Last week, Dowagiac Middle School students took a break from the classroom to race small, wooden, student-made cars in the hallway of the school, for what the school called CO2 car races. Made as part of the industrial arts curriculum, designing and racing, with assumption that the most aerodynamic car would win the race, the cars gave students a hands-on lesson in design and physics, said industrial design instructor Joshua Bridges.
Ultimately, the students involved said they had a good time competing and hoped that the project would be implemented again next year.
