DOWAGIAC — A Dowagiac woman was injured in a single vehicle crash Saturday morning, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to the crash at 1:01 a.m. Saturday on Jeffry Street near Lakeshore Drive.

Initial investigation shows that Karen Elizabeth Schott-Kelly, 44, of Dowagiac, was north bound Jeffry Street and lost control of her vehicle, running off the road and hitting several trees. She was transported to Borgess Lee Hospital for non-life threating injuries.

Deputies have determined that Schott-Kelly was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash, that speed was a factor in the crash and alcohol was not a factor in the crash. The crash remains under investigation.

Deputies were assisted on scene by Wayne Fire, Pokagon Tribal Police and Pride Care Ambulance.
