Athlete Showcase: Dowagiac’s Tamia Rimpson

Tamia Rimpson is a freshman on the Dowagiac track team.
What has been one of your greatest accomplishments as an athlete?
TR: Making varsity basketball, qualifying for regionals in track.
What has been one of your biggest disappointments as an athlete?
TR: Wanting to give up and quit.
Who is a “hero” in your life and why?
TR: My dad. He supports me in everything I do.
When are you the most nervous while you are competing?
TR: When I am at the starting line and they’re about the shoot the gun.
Describe an embarrassing athletic moment.
TR: My first time using starting blocks in one of my races.
How do you tend to work out/train when by yourself?
TR: I only work out when we have practice.
What other sport would you like to compete in if you were not playing yours?
TR: Volleyball.
Why are sports an important part of a high school experience?
TR: They could help me get into the colleges I might want to go to.
How would you give away $50,000?
TR: I would split it with my best friends Kyleah Hill and Kira Schmidt.
If you could be the head coach of a team for a year, what team would you choose?
TR: Dowagiac.
