Edwardsburg Wolverine Conference champions

OTSEGO — Mission accomplished.

The Edwardsburg golf team dominated the Wolverine Conference regular season and needed a solid performance in the league tournament at Lake Doster Golf Club on Thursday.

The Eddies, who won seven of the 10 league jamborees and were second in the other three, captured the tournament championship as well by shooting 332 as a team.

The conference title was the first for the Eddies, who finished with 30 points in the final standings.

Plainwell was second with 27 points, while Dowagiac finished sixth with 14 points.

Dowagiac placed sixth at the conference tournament with a team total of 398.

Edwardsburg freshman Satchel Pierce captured conference medalist honors as he finished with a stroke average of 39.333 to easily defeat runner-up Remy Franklin of Allegan, who had a stroke average of 40.500.

BCS tournament

DOWAGIAC — Lake Michigan Catholic captured the BCS Athletic Conference Golf Tournament at Hampshire Country Club Thursday.

The Lakers finished with a team total of 352, while Berrien Springs was second with a 394 and Buchanan third with a 400.

Bridgman (403), Parchment (421), New Buffalo (437), Brandywine (447), River Valley (478) and Comstock (581) rounded out the order of finish.

Lake Michigan Catholic’s Corey Seger earned medalist honors by winning a one-hole playoff with Bridgman’s Ty Barschdorf, after both had finished with an 18-hole total of 80.

The remainder of the top 10 were Blake Rudlaff of Berrien Springs (83), Jackson Glanzer of Berrien Springs (87), Chas LaSata of LMC (87), Matt Marzke of LMC (92), Connor Christensen of LMC (93), Jordan Mickiewicz of Brandywine (94), Jake Prince of New Buffalo (94) and Contez Williams of Parchment (97).

Buchanan’s top finisher was Bryce Leazenby, who finished 11th overall with a round of 98. John Gartland of Buchanan also shot 98 for the Bucks.
