Isabella LaReina is a freshman on the Dowagiac soccer team.
What has been one of your greatest accomplishments as an athlete?
IL: Being a starter on varsity soccer.
What has been one of your biggest disappointments as an athlete?
I am always disappointed when I lose. I am very competitive.
Who is a “hero” in your life and why?
IL: My brother Nico, because he is a great athlete and he is always there when I need him.
When are you the most nervous while you are competing?
IL: At the beginning of games.
Describe an embarrassing athletic moment.
IL: When I lose.
How do you tend to work out/train when by yourself?
IL: Lifting weights and running with music.
What other sport would you like to compete in if you were not playing yours?
IL: Brazilian Jujitsu.
Why are sports an important part of a high school experience?
IL: The teach you important life lessons.
How would you give away $50,000?
IL: I would donate it to epilepsy research for my little brother.
If you could be the head coach of a team for a year, what team would you choose?
IL: The women’s USA soccer team.
If I did not play sports, I would…?
IL: Focus more on track.
What is the most challenging thing for you to do in your sport?
IL: Accept a loss.
If you could change one rule about your sport, what would it be?
IL: No penalties.
What is the best compliment you have ever received?
IL: Being asked to play on the Jaier travel team.
What was the scariest thing you have had to do? Are you glad you did it?
IL: Give up fast food for soccer, yes.
What was the last thing you saw someone do that really impressed you?
IL: My brother played even when his back was messed up.
What is your favorite hobby? Why?
IL: Singing. It helps me clear my head.
