K & M Machine-Fabricating scholarship winners

CASSOPOLIS — K & M Machine-Fabricating in Cassopolis has announced its Earl G. Marhanka Scholarship winners for the fall of 2018: They are:
Maggie Baert is a graduate of Penn High School and will be attending Butler University in Indianapolis. where she plans to major in Psychology. At Penn, Maggie was Vice President of Viva Voce Choir. Maggie hopes to one day use her degree to become a criminologist. She is the daughter of Patrick Baert, K & M’s CFO.
Haily Shibinski – Haily is a graduate of Brandywine High School and will be attending Southwestern Michigan College in Dowagiac, where she plans to major in business management. Haily continues to work part time at Memorial Hospital while finishing her high school studies. Haily hopes to use her education to one day running her own restaurant. Haily is the daughter of David Shibinski, a CNC Machinist at K & M.
This scholarship program was established in 2001 in recognition of K & M’s 50th anniversary and in honor of the entrepreneurial spirit of its founder, Earl G. Marhanka. To date, more than $215,000 has been awarded to over 50 students of K & M employees. This year’s scholarship winners will receive $2,000.
In addition to the two new recipients, four scholarship winners from previous years are eligible to renew their $2,000 scholarships. They are:
• Amber Streeter (Kalamazoo Valley Community College, by way of Lawton High School) – daughter of John Streeter
• Jackson McLoughlin (Marquette University, by way of Lake Michigan Catholic High School) – son of Derek McLoughlin
• Madison McLoughlin (Loyola University New Orleans by way of Lake Michigan Catholic High School) – daughter of Derek McLoughlin
• Zoe Laubach (Trine University by way of Edwardsburg High School) – daughter of William Green
