Rangers drop three out of last four games

HARTFORD — The Cassopolis softball team dropped three out of its last four games, including a pair of Southwest 10 Conference games to Hartford Monday.
The Rangers defeated Tekonsha 15-1, but lost to Colon 9-1 at the Burr Oak tournament on Saturday.
Cassopolis was swept by the Indians 10-0 and 8-7 on Monday.
Against Tekonsha, the Rangers finished with nine hits, including two by Olivia Purlee, who also drove in a run.
Lynnzee Armstrong tripled for Cassopolis, which also got a pair of RBIs from Antonia Naumann.
Purlee was the winning pitcher as she went the distance. She allowed one run on four hits with eight strikeouts.
In the loss to Colon, Purlee was 3-for-3, while Caitlyn Steensma and Madison Suseland added singles.
In the opening game against Hartford Monday, Cassopolis was no-hit in the opening game.
In the nightcap, the Rangers had just three hits, including a single and a double by Kaitlyn Hartsell.
Steensma had the other hit for Cassopolis.
The Rangers are 9-8 heading into their Southwest 10 Conference doubleheader with Mendon Thursday.
