Dowagiac baseball takes two from visiting Three Rivers Tuesday

DOWAGIAC — The Dowagiac baseball team took a pair of games from visiting Three Rivers in Wolverine Conference action Tuesday.
The Chieftains won the opening game 12-2 and then the nightcap 6-5.
In the opener, A.J. Kidd and Tyler Huston both doubled for the Chieftains, who finished with seven hits.
Duan Simpson drove in three runs and Hunter Brackensick drove in a pair of runs.
Brendan Dudley went the distance to earn the victory for Dowagiac. He did not allow an earned run while giving up four hits and striking out three.
In the nightcap, the Chieftains scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth to pull out the win.
Dudley and Brackensick both doubled for Dowagiac, which had six hits. They each drove in a pair of runs as well.
Elijah Williams started for the Chieftains and worked into the seventh inning to pick up the victory. He allowed four runs on eight hits with four strikeouts.
Simpson came on in relief and earned a save after striking out the final batter.
