Madison Potter is a sophomore on the Dowagiac softball team.
What has been one of your greatest accomplishments as an athlete?
MP: Making varsity basketball as a ninth-grader.
What has been one of your biggest disappointments as an athlete?
MP: Getting a concussion in basketball in districts.
Who is a “hero” in your life and why?
MP: My mom, because she pushes me to do well.
When are you the most nervous while you are competing?
MP: When I’m up to bat and there are two outs.
Describe an embarrassing athletic moment.
MP: When I got hit in the face by a volleyball.
How do you tend to work out/train when by yourself?
MP: Play catch and do multiple reps of hitting.
What other sport would you like to compete in if you were not playing yours?
MP: Track, tennis.
Why are sports an important part of a high school experience?
MP: They teach me to work hard.
How would you give away $50,000?
MP: To my family.
If you could be the head coach of a team for a year, what team would you choose?
MP: Softball.
If I did not play sports, I would…?
MP: Work.
What is the most challenging thing for you to do in your sport?
MP: Being mental.
If you could change one rule about your sport, what would it be?
MP: Dragging your foot in pitching.
What is the best compliment you have ever received?
MP: I’m a natural at playing sports.
What was the scariest thing you have had to do? Are you glad you did it?
MP: Pitching, and yes I am, because I love doing it.
What was the last thing you saw someone do that really impressed you?
MP: When Amiyah (Smith) hit the fence and did not stop running even when she was told to.
What is your favorite hobby? Why?
MP: Sports, because they make me who I am.
