VANDALIA — Cass County deputies responded to a hiker that was lost in the trails at TK Lawless Park in Vandalia, Newberg Twp., during the day on April 19.

According to Sheriff Richard Behnke, Cass County Dispatch was in phone contact with the lost female for 15 minutes, trying to direct her out of the trails. When that failed, they directed her to stop where she was until help arrived.   

Sheriff deputies and the Pokagon Tribal Police responded to the call. K9 Nellie trailed deputies to the female’s location. The female and her young dog were located, unharmed, just off the main trail areas in the woods at Lawless Park.
