ST. JOSEPH — Community feedback is being sought on how to better improve the lives of local residents with autism. The forum is hosted by the Berrien Regional Education Service Agency, through the Statewide Autism Resources and Training grant, and students from Berrien County Peer to Peer programs.
The event will take place from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 24, at the Berrien RESA Administrative Conference Center, 711 St. Joseph Ave. Berrien Springs. It is free and open to the public.
Feedback is being sought from area business leaders, educators, parents, students and agency representatives to participate in a “community conversation” during April, Autism Awareness month. The conversation is aimed at answering two questions:
1. How to increase opportunities for students with disabilities to participate in social events, recreational activities and gain access to employment in Berrien County?
2. What specifically can residents do to increase opportunities for students with disabilities to participate in social events, recreational activities and gain access to employment in Berrien County?
Those interested should confirm their participation by contacting Kathy Hickok, Berrien RESA Autism Consultant, at kathy.hickok@berrienresa.org by April 20. Light refreshments will be served.
