POKAGON TOWNSHIP — Two Niles residents were seriously injured Thursday night when their dirt bike struck a deer near the intersection of Wells Street and Reynolds Road in Pokagon Township, according to the Cass County Sheriff Richard Behnke.
Deputies were called to Borgess Lee Memorial Hospital in Dowagiac where two subjects were dropped off by a witness of the crash. Police said the driver of the dirt bike, Antionette Marie Anson, 29, of Niles, sustained serious injuries from the crash, and the passenger of the dirt bike, Jason Lee Heller, 36, of Niles, also sustained injuries from the crash. Helmets were not used by either occupant. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor. This case remains under investigation.
Assisting Deputies was the Pokagon Tribal Police Department.
