ST. JOSEPH — United Federal Credit Union donated $5,000 to Youth Service Bureau of St. Joseph County to help continue the not-for-profit’s mission of building better futures for at-risk young people. Since 1972, the YSB has been empowering youth and families by offering many programs to help them achieve the safety and stability they deserve.
Brooke Harkins, mortgage advisor at United Federal Credit Union in South Bend, was a featured presenter at the organization’s annual fundraiser on March 22, having herself been assisted by YSB as a young person.
“YSB has had a positive and significant impact on my life. As a teenager, I experienced several challenges that YSB helped me manage and overcome. If it were not for them, I would have had a very different life. I would have never been able to become the wise, tough, single mother and young homeowner I am today. I am so thankful to UFCU for supporting this very deserving group and blessed to be part of such a caring team,” said Harkins.
