Polly Ann Payne, 71, of Dowagiac, passed away on Sunday, March 25, 2018, at Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital.

A celebration of life service will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 31, 2018, at Clark Chapel, 405 Center St., Dowagiac. Visitation will be two hours prior from 11 a.m.  to 1 p.m. also at the funeral home. Burial will take place at 1 p.m. Monday, April 2, 2018, at Riverside Cemetery. Polly was born on Feb. 3, 1947, to the late James and Helen (Gilbert) Howard in Evarts, Kentucky. She graduated at the top of her class from Everett High School in 1964. She proudly graduated from University of Kentucky with double associate’s degrees.

On Dec. 7, 1996, she married Walter Payne in Loyall, Kentucky. Polly was a very caring, selfless woman. She was dedicated to providing care for children, raising several foster children and adopting five. Polly also cared for the elderly and was on the Council of Aging.

Polly is survived by her husband of 21 years, Walter; children, Richard (Amanda) Baranoski, Cody Payne, Samantha Payne, Amber Payne, Corey Payne and Adam Payne; grandchildren, Arya Baranoski and Abel Baranoski and brothers, Ed (Dot) Howard and Doug Howard.
