PORTER TOWNSHIP — An Edwardsburg woman was injured in an accident in Porter Township Monday, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Richard Behnke reported that on around noon on Monday his office was called to investigate a personal injury crash that occurred on Shavehead Lake Street near M-40 in Porter Township.

Initial investigation shows 57-year-old Edwardsburg resident Karen Pierucki was westbound when she went off the road and crashed into the trees. She was taken to Three Rivers hospital for treatment.

It is believed by officers that she was using her safety belt and that prescription drugs may have been a factor. This case remains under investigation.
