Woman suffers minor injuries in two-car crash Monday

POKAGON TOWNSHIP — A Niles woman suffered minor injuries in a car crash Monday, after a car tire from another vehicle came lose and struck her vehicle on M-51 near Peavine Street in Pokagon Township, according to the Cass County Sheriff Richard Behnke.
Police responded to the crash around 10:24 a.m. The crash occurred when a vehicle driven by Christina Gousetis, 31, of Niles, was traveling south bound in a car on M-51 when her vehicle was struck by a tire which came off a north bound vehicle. The north bound vehicle was driven by April Weaver, 35, of Buchanan. Gousetis was transported from the crash site to Lakeland Hospital for minor injuries.
Deputies were assisted on scene by Pokagon Tribal Police, Pride Care Ambulance and Pokagon Fire Department.
Seatbelts were worn and alcohol and drugs do not appear to have been factors in the crash, police said.
The crash remains under investigation.
