Names of people involved in fatal crash released by police

ORONOKO TOWNSHIP — Police have released the name of the Eau Claire woman who died in a three-car traffic crash Monday morning in Oronoko Township.
Karen Lou Johns, 61, of Eau Claire, was pronounced deceased at Memorial Hospital-South Bend.
The crash occurred around 11:20 a.m. at the intersection of M-139 Hwy and Hinchman Road in Oronoko Township.
According to the Berrien Springs-Oronoko Township Police Department, a preliminary investigation, revealed that a northbound pickup truck, driven by Riley Ford Haygood, 17, of Berrien Springs collided with another northbound vehicle and pushed the car, which was driven by Karen Lou Johns, 61, of Eau Claire, into the southbound lane. A southbound multi-passenger transport bus, driven by Dianna Laura-Namanda Ssemanda, 35, of Berrien Springs collided with the car. Johns was transported to Memorial Hospital-South Bend, where she was pronounced deceased.
Police said they believe seven total passengers in the Ford Transit Van at the time of the accident. Five were female and two were male. Several of the passengers sustained minor injuries and were treated by medics at the scene.
Police reported that Haygood was not injured. An 18-year-old passenger in the pickup received a minor head and wrist injury and Laura-Namanda Ssemanda sustained minor injuries.
The accident remains under investigation. Further information will be released after confirming data is processed and reviewed.
