Woman robbed at Eagle Trace Apartments

DOWAGIAC — A robbery took place in Dowagiac Sunday, according to the Dowagiac Police Department.
Dowagiac Public Safety Director Steven Grinnewald, reported that, on Sunday, officers of the Dowagiac Police Department responded to an armed robbery call at the Eagle’s Trace apartment complex in the 29000 block of Amerihost Drive.
A resident of the complex was in the parking lot near her apartment building. As she was retrieving items from the interior of her vehicle she was confronted from behind by a male subject. The suspect grabbed her purse from her and fled on foot away from the complex to the west.
Officers checked the area, but were unable to locate the suspect. The victim told officers that the suspect was a black male, possibly in his 40s. The suspect was described as being approximately 5-foot, 10- inches tall and being of a heavy or stocky build. The suspect was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and dark pants.
The Dowagiac Police Department K9 team was called and responded to the scene as well. The K9 team was also unable to locate the suspect. The investigation is on-going.
