CASSOPOLIS — February was National Children’s Dental Health Month and Cassopolis Family Clinic Network, a Federally Qualified Health Center, celebrated the month by increasing awareness of the importance of good oral health in the communities of Cass southeast Berrien Counties.
CFCN started the National Children’s Dental Health Month Dental Pack Project eight years ago by distributing oral health kits to students of Cassopolis Public Schools. Expanding the project four years ago to include Brandywine and Niles Community Schools, CFCN is providing free oral health kits to nearly 6,350 students each year.
Each oral health kit includes an age appropriate toothbrush and toothpaste, floss, and information on CFCN dental services. This year, CFCN enlisted the help of the community to assist in assembly of the dental packs.
“We are so grateful to our friends from the United Way of Southwest Michigan, Van Buren/Cass District Health Department, Cass County Youth Council, Brandywine High School and our own CFCN staff, for assisting in the assembly and distribution of the dental packs to each student of Brandywine, Cassopolis and Niles School Districts,” said Rose Middleton, marketing coordinator for Cass Family Clinic Network and coordinator of the project. “This project is something we at CFCN are proud to do because we believe that good oral healthcare has a direct correlation to good overall health.”
