DOWAGIAC — Last weekend, Dowagiac Union High School band students competed in the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association district solo and ensemble competition that was hosted at Southwestern Michigan College.

Soloists that received a first division award will attend the state solo and ensemble competition on March. 17.

The results from Dowagiac are as follows:

First division soloists

• Ruke Ushio, flute

• Mallory Dodd, alto saxophone

• Jessica Robison, tenor saxophone

• Johnathan Stockwell, baritone saxophone

Second division soloists

• Rebecca Franklin, tenor saxophone

Second division ensembles:

Martha Schaller and Kylar Kinyon, trumpet duet
