NILES — Artwork by local artist Hal Mayer is now being exhibited for a limited time at Shelf Life Community Bookstore in Niles. All artwork is for sale with prices starting as low as $35.
Mayer works in mixed media art with those displayed at Shelf Life including oils and wood burned scenes.
The works feature water themes inspired by Lake Michigan, including the St. Joseph Lighthouse. Wildlife such as eagles, wolves and deer are featured in the wood burned pieces. Mayer’s art joins other framed art work at Shelf Life that is also for sale.
Shelf Life recently completed its first year of service to the Niles community. It offers used and new books at bargain prices with proceeds benefiting the Niles District Library and Niles DDA Main Street, which coordinates events such as the Hunter Ice Festival. The bookstore is located at 223 N. Fourth St. in Niles, and is open Wednesday through Sunday with hours posted on its web site.
