PORTER TOWNSHIP — A Vandalia woman was hospitalized after her vehicle crashed into a tree in Porter Township Thursday, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies with the department were dispatched to a reported single vehicle accident on Robbins Lake Road, near Sears Street outside Jones at 11:40 a.m. The crash occurred when 82-year-old Margaret Warren, of Vandalia, was driving north on Robbins Lake Road when her vehicle ran off the roadway and struck a tree.

Crews with Newberg Township Ambulance transported Warren to Lakeland Hospital in Niles for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Warren was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the accident. Police do not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.

Deputies are continuing to investigate the incident.
