NILES — After a woman was shot last night, Niles police are searching for an unknown suspect who is alleged to be connected with the incident

Police responded to the 600 block of Howard St. at about 9:56 p.m., after a caller reported that someone had been shot.

When police arrived at the scene, they discovered that a 35-year-old female has been shot in the hand. The injury was deemed non-life threatening and the woman received first aid treatment at the scene. She was then transported to the hospital by ambulance for additional treatment, police said.

The suspect is unknown at this time and was described as wearing all dark clothing, including some sort of mask. The Niles Police Department is currently investigating this incident.
