DECATUR — A 19-year-old Granger woman was hospitalized after her vehicle struck a tree outside Decatur early Sunday morning, according to Cass County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were dispatched to a reported one-vehicle rollover accident at the intersection of Dewey Lake Street and Wickett Road in Volinia Township at 3:10 a.m. Sunday.
Police learned that 19-year-old Ashley Coates was driving south on Wickett Road when she lost control of her vehicle at the intersection, causing it to leave the roadway. The vehicle then struck a nearby tree, causing it to roll over.
Crews with Pride Care Ambulance transported Coates to Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital in Dowagiac for treatment of minor injuries.
Coates was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, and airbags were deployed. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in this case.
Deputies are continuing to investigate the crash.
