Dowagiac 10-2 following sweep of Vicksburg, Plainwell

PLAINWELL — The Dowagiac wrestling team jumped back into Wolverine Conference action and swept host Vicksburg and Plainwell Wednesday night.
The Chieftains improved to 6-1 in conference matches, good for third-place behind undefeated Edwardsburg and Sturgis, who are both 5-0 on the year.
Dowagiac (10-2 overall) defeated the Bulldogs 70-6 before edging the Trojans 39-38.
Against Plainwell, Dowagiac led 39-20 after senior Justin Lyle pinned Ryar Baker in 3:50 at 171 pounds.
The Trojans won the final three bouts of the match, all by way of a pin to make the final score look a bit more respectable.
Earning two wins on the night for the Chieftains were Kody Walker (119), Jessie Edge (125), Alex McIntosh (130), Deny White (140) and Gage Williams (152/160), Lyle (171/189).
Also picking up a victory were Tyler Huston (103), Nick Turnbow (145), Lamberto Paredes (152), Michael Schlup (189), Dylan Anderson (215) and Wyatt Bailey (285).
Dowagiac returns to action Saturday when it competes in the Mendon Invitational.
