Niles Haunted House Scream Park adds new scholarship

NILES — The Niles Haunted House board of directors announced it will offer a new scholarship to Niles area high school seniors.
The $500 scholarship will honor a longtime Niles Scream Park supporter, William F. Alford Jr. Seniors at Brandywine and Niles high schools may apply for the scholarship to be applied to tuition.
This scholarship joins a number of various other scholarships awarded annually by the Niles Haunted House Scream Park. All scholarships are awarded based on community service, economic needs and academic merit.
The Niles Haunted House also awards a $500 scholarship in memory of Lou Milley to a qualifying Niles High School graduate. The Lou Milley scholarship gives preferential treatment to applicants who have a background in graphic arts, or who plan to study graphic arts in college.
A $500 scholarship in memory of John Carlson is awarded to a qualifying Brandywine High School graduate.
Another $500 scholarship honors longtime volunteer Gottlieb “Chris” Christ. This scholarship is awarded to a Niles High School graduate.
The Keith Shurte Memorial Scholarship, sponsored by the Shurte family, awards up to $500. Seniors from Brandywine, Buchanan, Dowagiac, Edwardsburg and Lakeshore seniors are eligible to apply. Applicants must have volunteered at least 50 hours at the Niles Scream Park in the previous two years, demonstrate academic success, and attend a secondary college, university or trade school the next academic year.
Community service is mandatory for all scholarships offered by the Niles Haunted House.
