JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP — An Edwardsburg woman was killed in a car accident in Jefferson Township Monday, according to the Cass County Sherriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to the crash at 6:49 p.m. Monday at Calvin Hill Street, near North Shore Drive in Jefferson Township.

Initial investigation has shown that 40-year-old Edwardsburg resident Jennifer Johnson was driving west on Calvin Hill Street when she lost control of her vehicle, causing her to drive off the road and strike a tree, resulting in her death.

Though the accident remains under investigation, deputies have determined that roads were slick at the time of crash, and Johnson was wearing her seatbelt at the time of impact. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash.
