Monday, Jan. 8

Winter Reading Program

ALL DAY

Visitors may fill out a slip for each book they read during the library’s 2018 Winter Reading Program, which runs through Feb. 17. The staff will host prize drawings for children, teens and adults every week.

Family storytime

10:30 to 11 a.m.

The library’s storytimes help 2-to 4-year-olds get ready for kindergarten by encouraging them to read, write, talk, sing and play. Children of all abilities are welcome, and caregivers are encouraged to participate as well.

An Hour of Code (adults)

6 to 7 p.m.

Adults who wish to learn computer programming are encouraged to stop by the library for An Hour of Code. People will use the library’s four Chromebooks, and will start with the basics of HTML. Later, guests may show off their work by hooking into the library’s projector and running it on the big screen. For adults.

4 to 5 p.m.

Teenagers may let their inner nerd shine during the library’s Teen Triva night. People may grab some friends and show off how smart they are. Trivia categories will change from month to month, and may include sports, music, pop culture, book titles, history, holidays, poetry, fast food slogans and more.

Classics Book Discussion — “Count of Monte Cristo”

10:30 to 11:30 a.m.

People who are looking for some motivation to read classic works of literature are asked to join in the library’s Classic Book Discussion program. People may stop at the front desk and receive a free copy of the library’s classic of the month. Participants will be reading and discussing “The Count of Monte Cristo,” by Alexandre Dumas, for the month of January.
