Jean Kirsten, formerly Jean Reavis, 76, of Cassopolis, died peacefully Sunday evening, Dec. 24, 2017, in the comfort of her family’s presence in Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville, Michigan.
She was born Wilma Jean Oaks Oct. 25, 1941, in Elkhart, Indiana, the only child of Lawrence and Hester Oaks. Her parents preceded her in death.
Jean liked pan fishing, football, reading romance novels and mysteries. She loved her cats, Blackie, Fluffy, Smokey and Callie. Over the years, Jean was a mom and mentor to many, including many of her children’s friends, many of whom called her “Mom.”
Jean will be greatly missed by family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Dale Kirsten of Cassopolis; one daughter and son-in-law, Stacy and Scott Dennis of Cassopolis; one son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Misty Reavis of Coldwater, Mississippi; one stepson, Chris Kirsten of New Jersey; and eight grandchildren, Alison Marchant, Nicolas Marchant, Ashley Reavis, ChiAnna Wine, Amy Dennis, Abby Dennis, C.J. Kirsten and Gwendolyn Kirsten.
Family and friends will gather from 11 a.m. to the time of service at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 29, 2017, in Connelly Chapel Wagner Family Funerals, 202 N. Broadway St., Cassopolis. Pastor Carl Henry, of Northside Baptist Church, will officiate.
Mrs. Kirsten’s remains will be laid to rest in Five Points Cemetery in Union, Michigan.
