Jean E. Gardner, 74, of Edwardsburg, passed to her rest Dec. 2, 2017, at Cass County Medical Care Facility, Cassopolis, after an extended illness. She was born Sept. 1, 1943, in Detroit,  the only child of James and Mary Marie (Mead) Wortherspoon. Jean was skilled in bookkeeping and secretarial duties. She worked and retired from the library at Edwardsburg Public Schools.

Jean was married Dec. 17, 1966, in Detroit to Edward T. Gardner, who survives along with their daughter, Jill (Steven) Kayner of Sterling Heights, MI, and two grandchildren MacKenzie and Sloane.

Family and friends may gather from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10, 2017, at the Hope United Methodist Church, 69941 Elkhart Rd., Edwardsburg for a Memorial visitation. The Memorial Service of Remembrance will start at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 10, 2017, at her church. Officiating will be Rev. Scott Otis, pastor. Inurnment will take place on Monday morning, Dec. 11, 2017 in the Edwardsburg Cemetery on the Wortherspoon grave lots.
