Jolly Old Saint Nick and a host of other Christmas characters arrived in downtown Dowagiac Saturday, as the Greater Dowagiac Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual Christmas Open House Weekend.
Children had a chance to meet Santa Claus inside the Wood Fire Restaurant, make seasonal cards inside the Dowagiac Area History Museum and pet decorated miniature horses, courtesy of Whitney Podell. Families could also enjoy horse-drawn wagon rides.
Adults, meanwhile, got a start on their Christmas shopping, as downtown shops such as Caruso’s and The Baker’s Rhapsody offered special deals and extended hours during the three-day event.
The chamber’s holiday celebration continues with Small Business Saturday Nov. 25, the Candle-light Christmas Parade Dec. 1 and Breakfast with Santa Dec. 16.
