Wolverine matches end in 2-2 tie

Dowagiac and Edwardsburg wrapped up its Wolverine Conference season with ties against Paw Paw and Sturgis respectively.
The Chieftains (8-6-2, 1-6-2 Wolverine) rallied from a 2-1 deficit to tie Paw Paw 2-2 Wednesday night.
Edwardsburg (14-2-3, 6-1-2 Wolverine) also played to a 2-2 draw with the Trojans.
Dowagiac grabbed the early 1-0 lead on the Redskins when Gage Williams found the back of the net in the 14th minute.
Back-to-back goals by Sean McLaughlin and Jacob Broadwater in the 25th and 26th minutes, gave Paw Paw the 2-1 advantage.
Dowagiac tied the score three minutes later when Alec Saylor scored in the 29th minute.
“It was well played match minus a couple breakdowns in the 25th minute,” Dowagiac coach Mike Williams said. “Both teams were even in all aspects of the game. Looking forward to Senior Night at 4 p.m. Friday against Berrien Springs.”
Dowagiac will then open up Division 3 district play at Brandywine in Niles at 5 p.m. Monday.
Sturgis at Edwardsburg
Jack Knoll and Ben Kraus scored for the Eddies in their 2-2 tie with Sturgis Wednesday.
Merick Evans had the assist on the Knoll goal.
The Eddies will begin district play in Division 2 by hosting Three Rivers at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.
