The Dowagiac soccer team was unable to create offense for the second straight Wolverine Conference match Wednesday.
The result was a 2-0 victory for visiting Allegan which dropped the Chieftains’ league record to 1-2.
Dowagiac is now 9-2 overall.
“It was a hard fought, physical match, which is what we expect in conference play,” Dowagiac coach Mike Williams said. “All our games from now through districts will be the same way. In order to come out on top we have to step up the physicality and capitalize on mistakes because there will be few of them.
“We played hard throughout the match. They had an advantage on size throughout the field.”
The Chieftains are right back on the pitch Monday as they travel to Edwardsburg for another Wolverine Conference match.
The Eddies were 3-2 winners over Paw Paw Wednesday.
Jack Knoll had a goal and an assist for the Eddies, as did Ian Wagner.
Isaac Toms scored the other goal for Edwardsburg.
