DOWAGIAC — Southwestern Michigan College went medieval Saturday, as the community college hosted its first ever Renaissance Faire that afternoon on its Dowagiac campus.
Students and families from throughout the area stopped by the event on the back lawn of the Charles O. Zollar Building. People were invited to watch performances by troupes of period actors, who showed off everything from Middle Eastern belly dancing to European sword fighting. Attendees could also have their fortunes told by a tarot card reader, grab a turkey leg from a food truck and test their own mettle in mock sword fights.
