Dave Sink, 68, of Dowagiac, passed away, Sunday, Sept. 3, 2017, at his home.
A Celebration of Life Service will be hosted at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 7, at Clark Chapel, 405 Center St., Dowagiac, with Deacon Alfred Lazaga officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will take place at noon Friday, Sept. 8, at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Dave’s name may be made to Hospice of Southwest Michigan-Kalamazoo or Cass County Cancer Services. Dave was born Jan. 4, 1949, in South Bend, Indiana to George W. & Marilyn A. (McCully) Sink. He graduated from Cassopolis High School, Class of 1967, and entered the US Air Force, serving his country during the Vietnam War. On August 17, 1974, he married the former Connie de Varona in Cassopolis, Michigan. Dave worked along side his father & brother for many years in the family business-Sink Datsun & Sink Ford in Berrien Springs. He later gained employment with Whirlpool Corporation, from where he retired as a Parts Specialist in 2015, after 26 years.
Dave enjoyed tending to his yard & his house. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t do. He enjoyed sharing his expertise by helping family & friends with their projects & repairs. He especially enjoyed the time spent with his family, going to the Auburn Car Show, and paying tribute to our wonderful country & flag.
Dave is survived by his wife Connie; his children-Tony Sink of Chicago, Alicia (Danny) Thomas of Grand Rapids; his siblings-Pam (Ken) Post of Kalamazoo, Jon Sink of Berrien Center, Beth (Jeff) Timmerman of Kalamazoo; and numerous nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
