Sister Lakes Lions Club hosting pancake breakfast
SISTER LAKES — The Sister Lakes Lions Club will host an all-you-can-eat pancake and sausage breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon Sunday, Sept. 3, at its clubhouse in Lions Park, 66991 95th Ave., Dowagiac.
The cost will be $7 for adults and $3 for children ages 4 to 12; children under 4 will eat free. Tickets are available from Lions Club members or may be purchased at the door.
Proceeds from the breakfast will go to support Lions Club projects.
DAR to host variety of events
CASS COUNTY — The Caption Samuel Felt Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution has announced its upcoming meeting dates for the fall and winter season.
• Monday, Sept. 11 @ 2 p.m., Cass District Library. The speaker will be Paula Johnson, and the program will on the Declaration of Independence. Hostesses will be Jane Wagel and Elizabeth Hertel.
• Monday, Oct. 9 @ 2 p.m., Cass District Library. Speaker will be Blaine Rex, and the program will be on American history. Hostesses will be Ann Flora and Sherry Hilden.
• Monday, Nov. 13 @ noon, Wakelee Methodist Church, 15921 Dutch Settlement St., Marcellus. Speaker will be Diane M. Schrift, Michigan State Regent, and the program is to be announced. Hostesses will be Jan Streeter and Karie Dussel. Members are asked to bring a dish to pass for a potluck lunch.
• Monday, Dec. 11 @ 2 p.m., Cass District Library. Program will be introductions and presentations of Good Citizens. Hostesses will be Jane Wagel, Abigail Schten and Paula Johnson.
Southwestern Michigan College announces August gifts
Dowagiac — Southwestern Michigan College Board of Trustees accepted gifts at its Aug. 21 meeting on the Dowagiac campus.
The board of trustees received gifts with a resolution of thanks from:
• Kenrose Kitchen Table Foundation, Westlake Village, Calif., a $50,000 contribution.
• Anonymous, $25,000.
• Lakeland Health Foundation, St. Joseph, $25,000.
• Fifth Third Bank, Grand Rapids, $7,000.
• Lake Michigan Mailers, Kalamazoo, $2,500.
• Mr. and Mrs. Keith McKenzie, Cassopolis, $1,000.
• Mr. and Mrs. William White, Jones, $1,000.
• Dian Brooks, Dowagiac, $250.
• Sue Watson, Cassopolis, $250.
