Canterbury, Gary each score twice as Rangers win season opener

ST. JOSEPH — Josh Canterbury and Kiambu Gary each scored a pair of goals as Cassopolis blanked host Lake Michigan Catholic 7-0 in the Rangers’ soccer season opener Friday night.

Canterbury scored in the 10th and 48th minutes, while Gary, who assisted on Canterbury’s second goal, scored in the 21st and 61st minutes.

Cassopolis (1-0) led 3-0 at halftime as Brett Williams, who assisted on the first Canterbury goal, scored in the 31st minute off an assist by Todd Bussey.

In the second half, Eian Forrest and Lane Francis scored in the 63rd and 71st minutes to complete the scoring for the Rangers.

Cassopolis finished with 16 shots on goal compared to six by the Lakers.

Jason Sopaseuth had five saves for the Rangers, , who competed in the VanDenBerg Invitational in Niles on Saturday.
